Teacher Collaboration

THE TOOLBOX SHARES TIPS AND OTHER RESOURCES TO SUPPORT YOUR EFFORTS

Truly integrating civic engagement and change-analysis into our course looks very different from just tacking a civics project at the end of the school year. It involves constant dialogue with our students as they change and grow, engagement with their communities, and attention to events that impact them and their families. It requires us to be flexible as we incorporate these understandings in order to make their learning meaningful, relevant and empowering.

Centering justice, elevating student voice, and fostering youth empowerment in our teaching requires us to think differently about our instructional goals, our connection with our students, and the nature of the educational system itself.

This section provides planning resources, lesson examples, and student work samples to help teachers in the above goals. It also offers tips and testimonials from teachers and students who experienced how Integrated Action Civics can transform the learning experience and empower students to shape their future.
