HISTORICAL ANALYSIS INVESTIGATES THE PROCESS OF CHANGE, PAST AND PRESENT
Our current social and political reality demands that students are able to draw on their knowledge of the past in order to make informed choices and be empowered to act towards justice. Teachers can support this skill development by making explicit connections between course content and the issues and concerns that face our students today.
Beyond the typical set of disciplinary skills that teachers introduce throughout the year, this model promotes using the skills of social change analysis in the study of course content. See the “Change Analysis” pages.
Additionally, it offers suggestions for fostering collaboration and academic conversation, along with historical and literacy skill development.
Note that this section duplicates the link to Sense of Self that helps students reflect and grow as they engage in both historical investigation and strategizing for change.

* These are duplicated in the "Change Analysis" module since they are integral to both aspects of this approach.
